Dear Friends

For those of you who have been following our adventures in Shilbottle from day one, you will probably be as amazed as us to realise that this year will be the TENTH anniversary of our big move to Northumberland and the beginning of A Space to Be.

So, from the tender shoot of a slightly implausible idea and direction it seems we now have the established plant of a successful small enterprise. ‘A Space to Be’ refers to the physical place where we have put down our roots, but also the inner space where we find peace or ease when we live aligned with our values and in connection with our environment and community. It refers to feeling of ‘coming home’ we access when we practice yoga and meditation and the experience we offer to our clients and guests.

This spring we are letting our roots grow deeper as our commitment to this physical space and the work that we do here also deepens. In addition to our usual activities so far this year we have hosted the ever inspirational Uma Dinsmore-Tuli for a Well Woman Yoga Therapy training in Alnmouth that attracted participants from all around the world. Lucy has also been teaching yoga at a local high school and a real highlight was welcoming some of the young people to our yoga studio for a special retreat day. Lucy continues to study with and assist restorative yoga teacher Judith Hanson Lasater and was featured in the new magazine Planet Mindful on this topic.

On a practical note, all our classes, courses, workshops and retreats are advertised on the recently revamped websites http://www.aspacetobe.co.uk and http://www.mothernurture.yoga.

We are also always very happy to hear from you by email or on the phone.

Please keep in touch!

Warm wishes,

Lucy and Henry

“A wonderful find. I stayed here as part of a residential yoga retreat. Would highly recommend it. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Very friendly hosts. And the Yoga was wonderful. Lucy is clearly extremely experienced and knowledgeable and takes time to understand each individuals needs. I came away feeling relaxed and restored. Will definitely be back.”

“Three friends and I enjoyed an exceptionally relaxing and rejuvenating weekend yoga retreat at A Space to Be. Lucy and Henry are excellent hosts and our individually tailored package included yoga and massages. Breakfast, evening meal, snacks and afternoon tea and cake were delicious and plentiful. We also managed to fit in a walk into Alnmouth and an evening meal at the great, local Indian restaurant which is a short walk from ASTB. We really didn’t want to leave!”
