Breathing Space

Create some Breathing Space this summer with five weeks of nourishing yoga.

ONLINE (ZOOM): Thursdays and Saturdays 9.30-11am, starts Saturday 11 June [with recordings to access in your own time].

SHILBOTTLE COMMUNITY HALL: Fridays 9.30-11am, starts Friday 10 June.

  • Week 1: Befriending your breath
  • Week 2: Regulating your breath
  • Week 3: Deepening your breath
  • Week 4: Lengthening your breath
  • Week 5: Suspending your breath*

Each class will include some anatomy, simple yoga postures to support different breathing patterns and guided deep relaxation. If you have had covid or are recovering from other illness or surgery I think you will especially appreciate this block of classes. For all of us who have lived through the last two years of heightened stress, uncertainty and hyper vigilance, these sessions will be an opportunity to recover our breath, rest our nervous systems and move onwards from a place of ease.

The classes are suitable for all ages and abilities and pregnant women are welcome too – if you’re breathing you can join in!

A registration form will be sent to all participants to ensure the classes are tailored just right.

*Suspending the breath (creating pauses at the end of inhale and exhale) is part of the traditional practice of prāṇāyāma. We will build towards this with great care and subtlety, with variations being offered for pregnancy and anyone else for whom this practice is not currently suitable or comfortable.

Breathing Space – In Person at Shilbottle Community Hall

  • Fridays 9.30-11am: 10, 17 and 24 June. 1 and 8 July

Five week course £50 (also includes access to all ten Zoom classes and recordings).

Breathing Space – Online via Zoom

  • Thursdays 9.30-11am: 16, 23 & 30 June. 7 and 14 July.
  • Saturdays 9.30-11am: 11 & 25 June. 2, 9 & 16 July.

Five week course £40 (includes all ten classes and recordings).

Breathing Space – In Person Studio Workshop

An opportunity to practice in a small group of six at A Space to Be studio. The workshop is an extended practice including many elements from the five week course. It is only available to course participants – booking details will be available once you have enrolled on the course.

  • Sunday 10 July, 2.00-4.00pm, £25

Includes tea and cake after class.
