Being in the Cycles

The philosophy of yoga teaches that each one of us is a microcosm of the macrocosm that is the whole universe. There is a space within us as deep and wide as the starry skies we might gaze into on a clear night. Indeed, everything in nature that we can observe outside of us, also exists within us, and like nature and her seasons, we are always changing. To practice yoga ‘in the cycles’ is to pay attention to these changes and seasons of your own inner landscape.

Monthly Online Yoga with Lucy Maresh

Being in the Cycles is an online yoga and meditation class that follows the seasons of the year and cycles of our lives. We meet every month on the first or second Sunday. You can drop-in to individual classes, or use the session as a monthly ritual of remembering yourself.

In each session you will be invited to pay attention to the needs of your own inner being. Is it enjoying a warm and productive summer, or curled in protective hibernation through a cold and bitter winter? How do we recognise these states and honour the transitions in between? The intention is to facilitate a space for you to listen in and act accordingly. Some of us may need a more restful class while others are in need of movement and stretching. There will always be plenty of options.

Summer 2026

Our summer sessions will focus on Pratyahāra, which means to have an inner awareness which is not ‘pulled away’ by sensory distractions. We will explore simple and elemental practices which delight and ultimately soothe our senses, allowing our attention to settle and feel at ease.

  • Sunday 7 June – nourished by earth (earth and water, smell and taste)
  • Sunday 5 July – soft eyes and warm heart (fire, vision)
  • Sunday 2 August – antar mouna the silence within (air and space, touch and sound)

This class is included in membership of Friends of A Space to Be. Guests may select the ‘Honesty Box’ pass to register free of charge and send an (optional) honesty box contribution.
