I feel sure you must all have seen enough pictures of me lying around and doing nothing for the time being so sharing today all the lovely cats and dogs my students have sent in (turns out they are mainly cat people like me).
Our pets are so good at letting go and settling down – they are great teachers! Pets also help us produce the relaxation hormone oxytocin (it’s also known as the love hormone or the cuddle hormone). When our body has lots of oxytocin we feel safe, relaxed, cosy, romantic and happy. When feel all those things, we produce more oxytocin – it is a positive feedback loop. I found this little article that explains a bit more of the science behind this pet connection (you have to gaze into their eyes!)
