Friday 26 June – The Divine Breath

Registration is now open for this year’s workshop with Ranju Roy. There will be a morning āsana practice followed by an afternoon philosophy and chanting workshop. You can choose to attend one or both sessions.

Vedic Chanting

Nearly 3,000 years ago, the ancient Seers of India created an extraordinary body of texts called the Vedas. These were hymns and poems composed to be recited. The chanting of the Vedas continues as a living and dynamic tradition in India.

Workshop with Ranju

Morning Session (‘Yoga for All’) 10.00-11.30am

The day will begin with a morning āsana practice with relaxation, during which you can listen to Ranju chanting the opening verses of the Taittiriya Upanishad

Afternoon Session (Philosophy, Chanting and Meditative Practice) 1.30-5.30pm

During the afternoon session, we will learn to chant these verses together and deconstruct their meaning – a beautiful evocation of the power of breath as evidence of Life. We will use breathing techniques and imagery to deepen our experience in physical practice.

You need no knowledge of anything esoteric; simply come with a mat, a block and a curious open heart! There is nothing quite like the sound of a group chanting simple sounds together.
